Hi Dane.

I agree mostly. I think that having the service available, with some
constraints, is neat. I'll use it sometimes! :-)

I stand corrected on businesses operating without phone service.

I'll chime in hear a bit -

I live in Mid City where it doesn't reach at all (yet) and my office is
downtown (3rd floor on Baronne St) and it works well on one side and not
at all on the other.

My first thought when I saw this was it's unfair to the local ISP but I
like the convenience. The city will be (hopefully) more efficient and
both locals and tourist will benefit - I would like to see some limits
built in - something like - keep the first 50MB per month free - then
charge per MB, block port 25 and others - basically making it so only
web surfing and downloading are available. Those willing to live w/o
additional features probably aren't your customer any ways.

As it stands, its to small and weak to worry about - but if something
isn't done it could affect sales of dial up dramatically and possibly
impact DSL as well.. I do think this is going to kill sales of those
wireless broadband cards. I suppose I wont be setting up as many home
wireless networks either :)

Many businesses and homes in New Orleans have and still are operating
w/o phones.
